Guide for print shops
Print artwork version control
final.pdf, final-2.pdf, final-new.pdf. When the customer sends a correction, which file is the one to print — and which one did last month’s job use?
How it works in Drapress
The original is always kept
Every upload is a new version. Nothing overwrites the file that came before it, and every version stays on the customer card.
One version selected for orders
A design has a version selected for ordering. Uploading a new one does not select it by itself — someone chooses, and the screen says which one is selected.
A job keeps its version
An order pins the version it was made with. A newer version that arrives later does not change a job already open, and the team can always see the file that job used.
Approvals follow versions
An approval is locked to the exact version of every page. Change a page and the approval no longer matches, so the job cannot move on with an approval for a different file.
What it does not do
Version control keeps and labels the files; it does not compare artwork pixel by pixel or merge changes between versions.
