Guide for print shops
Artwork approval for print shops
“The customer approved it” is only useful if you know which file, who said so and when. Approvals scattered across email threads and phone calls break down exactly when a reprint goes wrong.
How it works in Drapress
One approval, one exact version
An approval in Drapress is a separate, locked record — not a box checked on the order. It pins the proof and the revision of every page as they were at the moment of approval.
Who approved, and in what role
The record keeps the person, their role at the customer and the server time, and your team sees it on the job.
A change invalidates the old approval
The record itself is never edited. Replace a page or upload a new file and a new version is made; the old approval no longer matches and is shown that way, so production cannot run on it.
Prepress starts from what was approved
The job package for prepress is built from the approval: the pinned versions and a digest that identifies them, so a later handoff can show nothing was swapped.
What it does not do
An approval confirms the customer saw and accepted a specific version. It does not replace your own prepress judgement, and the file check reports without changing the file.
