Guide for print shops
Online proofing for print shops
A proof sent as an email attachment gets opened on a phone, misread and answered with “looks fine”. Then the job is printed, and nobody can say which file the customer actually saw. Online proofing puts the proof, the check and the answer in one place.
How it works in Drapress
A proof shaped like the product
The proof follows the product: a flip-through for a booklet, front and back for a two-sided item, one flat surface, or a fold preview. The customer sees the job the way it will be held.
The file check next to the proof
Before approval, the file is checked for page structure, size, bleed, font embedding, image resolution, spot colors, color space (RGB), rich black text, overprint and transparency. The check reports and does not fix — your prepress team decides what to do.
An answer in plain words
The customer approves from their portal. A short list says what still has to be true before the approval button opens: every page in place and shown in a preview, issues that must be handled handled, warnings acknowledged, and the proof current.
A record you can rely on
The approval records who approved, when, in what role and exactly which version of every page. If anything changes later, a new version is made and the old approval is shown as no longer valid.
What it does not do
The on-screen proof shows pages, order, sides and folds; it does not promise how colors will look on paper. Questions of paper and finish stay between you and your customer.
